Coach-led strength and conditioning. Sheffield.
Strengthtraining youcan walk into
Small-group barbell classes capped at twelve, coached by the same faces every week, in one room in Kelham Island. The first session is free, lasts an hour, and there is nothing to sign at the end of it.
The actual problem
Nobody stays awaybecause theequipment is wrong
People do not fail to join a gym because they doubt the racks. They fail to join because they cannot picture the first fifteen minutes — which door, where the bag goes, who speaks to them, whether everyone will look up.
So we wrote all sixty minutes down, photographed the dull parts in order, and put a clock on it. It is the least glamorous page on this website and it is the one that matters.

You park
There are twelve spaces on the yard and two of them are painted FORGE, closest to the door.
0:05
Your bag goes on the rack
Shelf on the right as you come in, six feet of it.
0:10
Someone walks you round. Four minutes.
A coach takes you round the room.
1:00
You leave
Somebody will say see you next week and mean it as a pleasantry rather than a commitment.
What is on
Four things,honestly different

Barbell Strength
Squat, press, hinge. A twelve-week wave, coached from the front, on your own rack at your own numbers.

Conditioning
Bikes, rowers, sleds and carries. Hard for a known number of minutes, then it stops.

Hybrid
One main lift, then a conditioning piece. For weeks where you can only get in twice.

Open Gym
The room, the kit, your own programme. A coach is on the floor the whole time and will leave you alone unless you ask.
The room
One room,kept properly
Three hundred and forty square metres in a converted works on Alma Street. Four platforms, six racks, everything from a 10 kg technique bar to fractional plates, and no mirrors on the platform wall.
Chalk is allowed. Plates go back in weight order because everybody puts their own away. It is a working room rather than a showroom, and that is deliberate.

Who coaches you
Twelve coaches,one room
Not a rota of freelancers and not an app. The same coaches run every class, know your name, and know what you lifted last week because one of them wrote it down.

Divya Nair
Head Coach
People who have never touched a barbell, and people coming back after years away.

Arjun Menon
Coach
People training around an injury, people over forty-five, and anyone who has been told by a physio to start lifting and does not believe them.

Rohit Bhatia
Coach
Experienced lifters who have been stuck on the same number for a year and cannot work out why.

Ananya Raghunathan
Coach
Anyone who wants to learn the snatch and the clean and jerk properly, and lifters who want to move faster rather than only heavier.

Kabir Sethi
Coach
People training for something with a date on it — a half marathon, a sportive, a first triathlon — who need conditioning that fits around the training they are already doing.

Meera Krishnan
Coach
Women training through a pregnancy and coming back afterwards, and anyone who has been told to "just be careful" without being told what that actually means.
The price, in public
₹6,800 a month.No contract.One email to stop.
Full membership is ₹6,800 a month and every other price is on the pricing page, including off-peak, open gym only, and the ten-session pass. There is no joining fee and no minimum term.
Underneath the prices we have printed what the membership deliberately does not include — no contract to sign, no retention phone call to cancel, no app, and no personal-training pitch in your first month.
“I had never been in a gym that was not a chain and I genuinely thought people would look at me. They did not.”

Twelve spaces on the yard, two of them kept for first sessions. Shalesmoor tram stop is a six-minute walk.
First sessions
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Free, one hour, alongside a real class. Not on Thursdays — the evening is the barbell club and there is no coach spare.
Or just ring
A coach answers it. If you would rather ask three questions before booking anything, that is completely normal.
