Coach · she/her · at Forge since 2023
NishaPillai
Worked nights for six years before this and coaches the early and late slots that suit people who still do.
Nisha did six years of shift work before she retrained, which is why she has the 06:15 and the Sunday morning rather than the popular evening slots. She asked for them.
Her particular subject is the return. Not the first session — Divya has that — but the one after a long gap, where somebody was training three years ago, knows what they used to lift, and finds the number they can lift today genuinely upsetting.
How she coaches
She starts by taking the old number off the table. The first four weeks are deliberately, almost insultingly easy, and she is very clear about why: the thing that makes people quit twice is coming back at the weight they left at.
She is also the coach who notices when somebody has stopped turning up, and the one who does not send a guilt-trip text about it.
What she is less good at
Advanced programming and competition. She has been coaching for three years and says so plainly rather than pretending to more.
