Coach · he/him · at Forge since 2020
AdityaRao
Writes most of the individual programmes and is on the floor for the majority of the open gym hours.
Aditya is the person whose handwriting is on most of the cards in the box file. He has been here since 2020 and has written, at a rough count, somewhere over four hundred programmes.
He is on the floor for most of the open gym hours, which is deliberate — it is where the people running their own programmes are, and it is where a programme either survives contact with reality or does not.
How he coaches
By asking what you want first, which sounds obvious and almost nobody does. A programme for somebody who wants to deadlift 200 kg and a programme for somebody who wants to stop being stiff at work are different documents, and he will not write either until he knows which one you are.
He is also ruthless about volume. Most people who come to him are doing too much, and the first draft usually has things removed rather than added.
What he is less good at
The first thirty seconds. He is quiet, and new members occasionally read that as disinterest. It is not — he is just waiting to be asked.
